A massive well done to everyone who ran the 42nd London Marathon earlier this month – what an amazing achievement! We are all full of admiration for the sheer physical and mental endurance required to complete this gruelling challenge, not to mention the dedication required to maintain the pre-race training regime.
Running for charity
So many of those taking on the 26.2-mile race was raising money for great causes close to their hearts. Many weren’t doing it the easy way either (if there is such a thing when it comes to a marathon) as they donned hot and heavy costumes to wear around the course! This takes real grit and determination but it is a tried-and-tested way to raise funds for some truly deserving charities.
At Global BPO, we recognise our responsibilities to the wider communities in which we work. It’s part of our organisation’s culture to give back where we can and the support, we provide to our various chosen charities each year really matters to us.
Our charity partners
Given our strong links to South Africa, we are particularly proud of our long association with two exceptional charities, Young Bafana and Thembalitsha Foundation. Both are dedicated to improving the life chances of children and adults in South Africa and each provides a helping hand to those in local communities who are most in need.
To find out more about these organisations and our long-standing partnerships, see our recent blog: Making A Difference: Global BPO Is Proud Of Its Long-Standing Partnerships With Charities.
Back to April next year
The London Marathon traditionally takes place in April but due to the Covid pandemic it was pushed back to Autumn in 2020 and has stayed there ever since. However, it is expected to revert to its April slot next year. We hear on the grapevine that there is at least one Global BPO employee who is hoping to be running the London marathon in 2023. We know that they will want to do so in aid of a charity which is special to them – so watch this space!
