Congratulating HM The Queen On Her Platinum Jubilee
This year, Queen Elizabeth II celebrates an unprecedented anniversary, as she becomes the first British monarch to achieve 70 years of reign.
The UK is looking forward to celebrating this once-in-a-lifetime event with parties planned over the Jubilee Bank Holiday.
At Global BPO we’ve been supporting clients for 21 years, and it’s humbling to think that the majority of the Queen’s reign occurred during the millennium before we were in existence!
This made us think about what the Queen was doing when she was 21.
Given our strong links to South Africa, we were delighted to discover that she was on a tour there with her parents, King George VI and Queen Elizabeth!
Later, when she became Queen, she was to visit South Africa twice more, in 1995 to meet the new President Nelson Mandela and again in 1999.
On the day of her 21st birthday, 21st April 1947, she was still Princess Elizabeth and made her famous radio broadcast from Cape Town, in which she pledged:
“I declare before you all that my whole life, whether it be long or short, shall be devoted to your service….”
Her Majesty has certainly honoured that promise, with her dedicated life of service. So, from all of us at Global BPO, we would like to say: “Thank you and congratulations, Ma’am”!
